POWERinU partnered with SEIPI on their Annual General Membership Meeting (GMM) last May 26, 2022

Last May 26, 2022, 9:00 AM, Semiconductor & Electronics Industries in the Philippines, Foundation Inc. (SEIPI) held its Annual General Membership Meeting (AGMM), via Zoom Webinar with the theme ”Leveraging Digital Transformation for the Post-Pandemic Future”.

POWERinU Training and Coaching Philippines, Inc. was one of the sponsors as part of its initiative of reaching out to leaders of foreign and local electronics companies in the Philippines to see where POWERinU can be of help specifically in ensuring that leaders have the knowledge and skills to lead in their highly competitive and dynamic industry. POWERinU President Benjie Garcia, together with POWERinU Directors Elaine Cercado and Penny Bongato attended the event. The GMM was a venue which provided updates on the latest trends and economic issues affecting the Philippine electronics industry so it allowed everyone to see the current status of the industry, the roadmap on further developing the industry, and the challenges and issues that needed to be addressed.

The program started with an invocation and national anthem, then welcome remarks and industry updates were given by SEIPI President Dr. Dan Lachica. He also highlighted the resurgence in the industry’s export performance in 2021, which was even higher than the pre-pandemic exports.

After the presentation on the industry’s performance, this was then followed by a talk on the industry’s outlook bSEIPI Chairman, Mr. Mark Edelstone. He mentioned that the Philippine electronics exports is projected to grow to USD 50 Billion in year 2022, from USD 45.92 Billion in year 2021, and that the Philippine Electronics Industry Growth Forecast for 2022 is at 10%. He ended is presentation by sharing some of the emerging technologies where SEIPI members can look into.

After talking about the industry outlook, a series of short presentations were given followed by Q&A, The presentations were:

  • “Semiconductor Industry Renaissance” by Mr. Mark Edelstone, Chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Global Semiconductor Investment Banking;
  • “Policies and Programs for Digital Transformation of the Electronics Industry” by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez;
  • S&T Enablers for the Manufacturing Sector” by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato Dela Pena, and
  • Enabling Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the Electronics Industry” by Mr. Melvin Jeffrey Chan, PLDT Enterprise Vice President & Head for Enterprise Innovations & IoT Business Development.

The program ended by the announcement of the SEIPI Trustees for 2022-2023 and raffle draw with prizes from the sponsors.
