POWERinU Director Elaine Cercado delivered a talk on “Engaging, Motivating and Leading Today’s Workforce” during the Online Training Summit of Semiconductor & Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI) in coordination with their Semiconductor and Electronics Training Council (SETC) last September 17, 2021.
SEIPI is the leading organization of multinational and Filipino-owned semiconductor and electronics companies in the Philippines with 350 members, including manufacturing firms, allied and support industries, and the academe. The Philippine semiconductor and electronics industry is a significant driver of the Philippine economy and the largest contributor to the country’s manufacturing sector.
The online event started with welcome remarks from Ms. Pureza Valenciano, the Vice Chairman for Training of SEIPI, Learning and Development Supervisor for Human Resources Management and Development Department of Toshiba Information Equipment (Phils.), Inc. then Ms. Erika Baylon gave a quick industry performance report followed by the first talk on “Overall Equipment Effectiveness” by Adrian Dorin, TPM Planned Maintenance Facilitator and Assessor.
After the technical talk, Executive Coach and, Senior Consultant and Trainer Elaine Cercado then gave her talk to a highly engaged audience. She shared the latest statistics and trends on employee engagement and retention, then she spoke about leading today’s workforce by sharing two frameworks – the Motivation framework based on “The Inner Game” by Tim Gallwey and Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman.
Elaine then wrapped up her presentation by sharing what we can do at organizational, management and personal levels. These include improving the employee experience in the organization and developing “manager-coach” leaders.
After a short Q&A, Mr. Olsen Bandahala of OnSemiconductor Philippines and SETC Chairman, gave a quick closing remarks to end the webinar.
